4th edition of the Indian Premier League - IPL4 lived up to its expectations as started with a great thrilling mach in which defending champion Chennai Super Kings beat Kolkata Knight Riders in the last ball thriller by just 2 runs in the opening game on Friday, 8th April, 2011 at Chepauk.
Chennai managed 153/4 in 20 overs, got a good start thanks to opener Anirudha who hit 55 balls 64 runs and were 80-1 in 10 overs but managed only 153 runs as Iqbal Abdullah bowled brilliantly took 1 wicket for 26 runs. Kolkata also got good start with 64 runs opening partnership in 9 overs by Bisla 27 and Kallis 54 runs off 42 balls and were 112-2 in 15 overs but lost few quick wickets and needed 9 runs off last 6 balls but felt short by 2 runs, bowled by Southee.
