In a thrilling high scoring 9th match of 2011 IPL 4, underdogs Prety Zinta's Kings XI Punjab beat defending champions Chennai Super Kings by 6 wickets with 5 balls remaining, on Wednesday, 13th April, 2011 at Mohali. CSK made 188/4 in 20 overs and KXIP made 193/4 in 19.1 overs.
Chennai Super Kings got worst start as they lost 2 wickets in the first 2 balls by Praveen Kumar but M Vijay and Badrinath put 124 runs in 15 overs, made 74 off 43 balls with 6 fours and 2 sixes and 66 not out runs respectively and in the end Dhoni hit 20 balls 43 runs so set the highest total of 2011 with 188/4.
Kings XI Punjab then got best start with 61 in 6 overs by Gilchrist and Valthaty. Paul Valthay, boy from Mumbai then played one of the best innings of IPL with unbeaten 120 runs off 63 balls with record 19 fours and 2 sixes and stand till the end to clinch a thrilling win. Valthay never took Punjab out of the match and always maintained the required run rate.
