AB de Villiers denied new team Kochi Tuskers Kerala to win their first match as Royal Challengers Bangalore clinch the match by 6 wickets with 8 balls remaining on Saturday, 8th April, 2011 at Kochi. KTK made 161/5 in 20 overs and RCB made 162/4 in 18.4 overs.
Kochi Tuskers Kerala got a dream start of their debut match as McCullum 45 off 32 balls and Laxman 36 off 29 balls and put 80 runs for the opening wicket in 9 overs but captain Vettori bowled beautifully with just 17 runs in 4 overs with a wicket to avoid opposition set a big toatal and restricted them to 161.
Royal Challengers Bangalore lost Dilshan early but managed 85-2 in 10 overs but Vinay, Jadeja and Murali bowled tightly to increase the required run rate and they needed 33 runs in 3 overs and Mahela gave bowl to Gomez and ABD hit 3 sixes and scored 20 runs and turned the match in their favor and then new man Asad Pathan hit 3 fours to win the match with 8 balls remaining.
