In a high scoring Final of the 2012 IPL5, Kolkata Knight Riders beat defending champions Chennai Super Kings with just 2 balls remaining on Sunday, 27th May, 2012 at Chennai. CSK made 190/3 in 20 overs and KKR made 192/5 in 19.4 overs.
Chennai got a good start by M Vijay 42 runs and Hussey 54 runs with 87 runs for the 1st wicket in 10 overs and then Raina back in form at the right time with 73 runs off just 38 balls with 5 sixes to set a big total for the title.
Kolkata then lost in form skipper Gambhir in the first over but then Manvinder Bisla who replaced McCullum played a brilliant inning of 48 balls 89 runs under pressure with 8 fours and 5 sixes well supported by Kallis with 69 runs. In the end they lost couple of quick wickets and needed 21 runs in 12 balls but Manoj Tiwary and Shakib took them to cross the line. Tiwary hit back to back fours when 7 runs needed of 4 balls.
