Kolkata Knight Riders reaches the Final of 2012 IPL 5, beat Delhi Daredevils by 18 runs on the slow pitch in the 1st qualifier on Tuesday, 22nd May, 2012 at Pune. KKR made 162/4 in 20 overs and DD made 144/8 in 20 overs.
Kolkata after winning the toss got a steady start by Gambhir 32 off just 16 balls and McCullum 31 with 48 runs in 6 overs. They were struggling at 106/4 in 16 overs but Yusuf Pathan back in form at right time hit 21 balls 40 not out runs and put 56 unbeaten partnership with Shukla who contributed 11 ball 24* runs to set a competitive total of 162/4.
Delhi got a good start made 24 runs in 2 overs but wickets of Sehwag and Warner put them on back foot. They were very much in the game but they have sent Ross Taylor late in the chase after Rao and Negi which cost them match and Kolkata's 4 spinners startegy works on slow pitch.
