Bangalore in the Final of IPL2, beat Chennai by 6 wick, meet Deccan in the Grand Finale on 24th May, 2009
In the 2nd semi final of 2009 IPL, rejuvenated Royal Challengers Bangalore beat last year runner-up and title favorite Chennai Super Kings by 6 wickets with 7 balls remaining to reach the final of IPL2 on Saturday, 23rd May, 2009 at Johannesburg. CSK made 146/5 in 20 overs and RCB made 149/4 in 18.5 overs.
Chennai Super Kings started well reached 61 runs in 7 overs due to fine hitting by Parthiv Patel and Mathew Hayden score 36 runs and 26 runs respectively but tight bowling supported by well fielding restricted them to 14 /5 in 20 overs. Dhoni also contributed 28 runs. Vinay Kumar took 2 wickets for Bangalore.
Royal Challengers Bangalore lost Kallis early in the inning but last match Hero Manish Pandey once again played a match winning inning of 48 runs off 35 balls and put 72 runs for the 3rd wicket with Dravid who contributed 44 runs to set a platform for a comfortable win. Virat Kohli and Ross Taylor were unbeaten on 24 and 17 runs respectively.
