Deccan in 2009 IPL Final, Gilchrist stars in 6 wickets win over Delhi to reach the Final of IPL2
Adam Gilchrist played one of the fiery inning of IPL2, hit the fastest half century of IPL on his way of 35 balls 85 runs in the 1st semi-final as Deccan Chargers beat title favorite Delhi Daredevils by 4 wickets with 14 balls remaining to reach the final of 2009 IPL on Friday, 22nd May, 2009 at Centurion. DD scored 153/8 in 20 overs and DC made 154/4 in 17.4 overs.
Delhi Daredevils invited to bat 1st got its worst start of IPL as the Gambhir and Warner out on duck and they were 2 wickets down and then Sehwag and Dilshan put partnership of 85 runs in 10 overs, scored 39 runs and 65 runs off 51 balls respectively to take Delhi to 153/8 in 20 overs. Ryan Harris took 3 wickets while RP Singh took 2 wickets for Deccan.
Then comes one of the most entertaining inning of IPL2 by Gilchrist scored 85 runs off just 35 balls with 10 fours and 2 sixes and on the way hit fastest half century of IPL history in just 17 balls to set a comfortable 6 wicket victory to reach Deccan Chargers in the final of IPL2 on Sunday.
