Defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders started their title defend well with a win in the opening game of 2013 IPL6, as they beat Delhi Daredevils by 6 wickets with 8 balls remaining, on Wednesday, 3rd April, 2013 at Eden Gardens. DD all out on 128 runs and KKR made 129/6 in 18.4 overs.
Delhi Daredevils lost under 19 captain Unmukt Chand on the first ball of the match by Brett Lee, but David Warner 21 and captain Jayawardhane 66 off 52 balls took the score to 40 in5 overs but introduction of mystery bowler Sunil Narayan changed the game as he took 4 wickets for just 13 runs and never allowed Devils to come back and restricted them to 128 runs.
Kolkata Knight Riders also lost 1st wicket early of Bisla but Gambhir 42 runs off 29 balls and Kallis 23 runs put a strong partnership of 47runs in 6 overs to put them in strong position. Naddem took 2 wickets but was too late for them.
