Deccan in 2009 IPL Final, Gilchrist stars in 6 wickets win over Delhi to reach the Final of IPL2

Adam Gilchrist played one of the fiery inning of IPL2, hit the fastest half century of IPL on his way of 35 balls 85 runs in the 1st semi-final as Deccan Chargers beat title favorite Delhi Daredevils by 4 wickets with 14 balls remaining to reach the final of 2009 IPL on Friday, 22nd May, 2009 at Centurion. DD scored 153/8 in 20 overs and DC made 154/4 in 17.4 overs.

Delhi Daredevils invited to bat 1st got its worst start of IPL as the Gambhir and Warner out on duck and they were 2 wickets down and then Sehwag and Dilshan put partnership of 85 runs in 10 overs, scored 39 runs and 65 runs off 51 balls respectively to take Delhi to 153/8 in 20 overs. Ryan Harris took 3 wickets while RP Singh took 2 wickets for Deccan.

Then comes one of the most entertaining inning of IPL2 by Gilchrist scored 85 runs off just 35 balls with 10 fours and 2 sixes and on the way hit fastest half century of IPL history in just 17 balls to set a comfortable 6 wicket victory to reach Deccan Chargers in the final of IPL2 on Sunday.

In a thrilling 43rd match of 2009 IPL, title favorite Delhi Daredevils beat Deccan Chargers by 12 runs and maintained their top spot in points table with 16 points in the only match of Wednesday, 13th May, 2009 at Durban. DD made 173/7 in 20 overs and DC made 161 all out in 19.4 overs.

Delhi Daredevils batting first started slowly in spite the return of their captain Virendar Sehwag due to wickets at regular interval but Dilshan's 37 runs and AB de Villiers 44 runs put them on tack and in the end Dinesh Karthik played a crucial inning of 23 balls 44 runs, as they scored 64 runs in last 5 overs to take the score to 173/7 in 20 overs.

In reply, Deccan Chargers got a good stsrt made 30 runs in 2 overs as Gilchrist in good form scored 64 off 33 balls with 5 fours and 5 sixes. In the end Ravi Teja and Andrew Symmonds scored 41 off 22 balls took the team to 25 needed in 18 balls with 6 wickets in hand. But 7 wickets in 3 overs restricted them to 161 all out in 19.4 overs as Bhatia took 4 wickets for 15 runs.

Deccan Chargers in their new attire performing brilliantly in the 2nd edition of Indian Premier League - IPL, as they beat Bangalore Royal Challengers by 24 runs in the 8th match at Durban on Wednesday, 22nd April, 2009.Deccan Chargers now won both of their matches and leading the 2009 IPL points table.

Deccan Chargers won the toss and elected to bat 1st made 184 runs in 20 overs thanks to Adam Gilchrist hit 71 runs off 45 balls with 6 fours and 5 sixes and Rohit Sharma scored 52 runs off 30 balls with 1 four and 5 sixes.

In reply Bangalore Royal Challengers got a poor start as Jesse Ryder out on 1st ball but Dravid put a fight back with 48 runs off 27 balls and Virat Kohli in the end hit 50 off 32 balls to win the match but fall short by 24 runs and managed 160/8.
