Chennai Kings v Royal Bangalore 2011 IPL4 Final Photo Highlights - Murali Vijay Man of the Match

Chennai easily beat Bangalore in the Grand Finale of 2011 IPL by 58 runs and retained the trophy. M Vijay played a brilliant match winning of 95 runs and got Man of the Match while Hussey contributed with 63 runs and R Ashwin took 3 wickets for 16 runs.

In an one sided final Chennai retained their crown as King of Indian Premier League by lifting 2011 IPL4 trophy beating Royal Challengers Bangalore by a huge margin of 58 runs on Saturday, 28th May, 2011 at Chepauk Stadium Chennai. CSK made 205/5 n 20 overs and RCB made 147/8 in 20 overs.

Dhon won the toss and Chennai openers put the best opening partnership in the history of IPL with 159 runs in 15 overs as Hussey hit 63 off 45 balls and M Vijay played a brilliant inning of 95 runs off just 52 balls with 4 fours and 6 sixes. They lost some quick wickets but managed to score highest score in the final with 205/5 as all bowlers got the hammering by Vijay and Hussey.

Chasing a huge target RCB's inning derailed in the 1st over itself when in-form and highest run scorer in the tournament Chris Gayle out without scoring any runs bowled by Ashwin also took the wicket of other opener Agarwal in his next over. They soon lost the match when they reduced to 70/6 in 10 overs and managed only 147/8 as only Kohl 35 and Saurabh Tiwary 42* not out put some fight. R Ashwin was the pick of the bowler with 3 wickets for just 16 runs.

Chris Gayle played another superb inning in IPL 4 and helped Bangalore for their 2nd final on Saturday against Chennai by hitting 89 runs off 47 balls with 9 fours and 5 sixes as they beat Mumbai by 43 runs in the 2nd play-off.

MI v KKR IPL4 Eliminator Result - Mumbai in play-off, beat Kolkata by 4 wickets


In the eliminator match of 2011 IPL4, Mumbai Indians beat again Kolkata Knight Riders by 4 wickets with 4 balls remaining and qualify for the play-offs on Wednesday, 25th May, 2011 at Wankhede, Mumbai. KKR made 147/7 in 20 overs and and MI 148/6 made in 19.2 overs.

Kolkata Knight Riders playing in the shadow of last match which they lost on the last ball, collapsed to 20/4 in 5.3 overs and then Pathan 26 runs and Ryan ten took the score to 80 runs in 13 overs. Ryan ten played a superb inning of unbeaten 70 runs off 49 balls with 6 fours and 3 sixes while Shakib hit quick fire 16 balls 26 runs. Munaf Patel was picked of the bowler with 3-27

Mumbai Indians then got a blazing start by Blizzard who hit 30 balls 51 runs and Tendulkar 36 runs put 81 runs in 8 overs but then lost few quick wickets and reduced to 103/4 in 13 overs. Match was closed when they needed 15 runs in last 12 balls with Harbhajan and Franklin on the crease with Lee bowling and Bhajji hit four on the 1st balls but Lee managed to give 4 runs in next 5 balls. 7 needed on the last over and Bhajji hit a six on the 2nd ball bowled by Shakib and seal a victory.

In a high scoring 1st Play-off between top two teams, defending champions Chennai Super Kings beat Royal Challengers Bangalore by 6 wickets with 2 balls remaining on Tuesday, 24th May, 2011 at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai. RCB made 175/4 in 20 overs and CSK made 177/4 in 19.4 overs.

Royal Challengers Bangalore lost their most in-form batsman Chris Gayle early but Agarwal 34 runs and Virat Kohli who played a brilliant inning of unbeaten 70 runs off just 44 balls with 5 fours and 3 sixes helps them to set a huge total of 175/4 in 20 overs while Pomersbach contributed with 29 runs off 18 balls.

In reply, Chennai Super Kings lost Hussey in the 1st over itself by Zaheer and then Vjay in the next over by Arvind. Badrinath 34 runs and Raina then took the score to 70 runs in 10 overs. Chennai needed 12 runs an over but Dhoni 29 runs and Raina played fearlessly and took the score to 134 runs with 61 runs partnership in just 5.4 overs. They needed 58 runs in last 4 overs but Raina hit unbeaten 73 runs off 50 balls with 4 fours and 6 sixes and Albie Morkel made 10 balls 28 runs to seal a thrilling win with 2 balls remaining.

According to this year rule points table leader Royal Bangalore will take 2nd placed Chennai Kings in the 1st play-off on Tuesday, 24th May while the 3rd placed Mumbai Indians will meet Kolkata Riders in the Eliminator on Wednesday, 25th May. 2nd Play-off will be played between the looser of 1st play-off and winner of Eliminator on Friday, 27th May, 2011.
